"For their first production of the new decade, the Dulwich Players present Lee Hall's adaption of Carlo Goldoni's classic farce "A Servant to Two Masters", an energetic and very funny tale of disguise, mistaken identity and lost lovers that unfolds in 18th century Venice.

Beatrice Rasponi travels to Venice in search of her lover Florindo, disguised as her own brother who Florindo slew in a duel. On the way she falls in with Truffaldino Batocchio, an itinerant servant from the mountains of Bergamot who lives by his wits... which are sadly limited. In Venice she hatches a complex scheme to find Florindo and bring him back with her to Turin. Unfortunately, Truffaldino meets Florindo first and, entirely unintentionally, manages to keep the two lovers apart despite sharing the same lodgings.

Goldoni's first attempt to bring some order to the world of commedia dell'arte was adpated by Lee Hall in 1999 for the Young Vic and the RSC. It was first performed at The Other Place, Startford-Upon-Avon in 1999. Since then, it has become a firm favorite with dramatic groups across the country.

18th, 19th, 20th February, 8pm at the Edward Alleyn Theatre, Dulwich College, SE21 7LD. Tickets £8, from Box Office 020 8670 0993, The Art Stationers, Dulwich Village, or on the door.
